This final rule corrects a number of errors in the hazardous waste and used oil regulations in 40 CFR which resulted from typographical errors, misspellings, etc. The final rule was effective July 14, 2006

June 2, 2006 Hazardous Materials: Infectious Substances; Harmonization with the United Nations Recommendations Final Rule
This final rule revises the transportation requirements for infectious substances, including regulated medical waste, to adopt new classification criteria, new exceptions, and packaging and hazard communication requirements. The final rule is effective October 1, 2006. Voluntary compliance was authorized 30 days following publication of the final rule.
July 19, 2006 Revision of the Emergency Response Guidebook Notice Proposed
This notice advises interested parties that the PHMSA is requesting comments on the development of the 2008 Emergency Response Guide. Comments may be submitted online to ERG2008@dot.gov on or before Sept. 18, 2006. (Reference docket number PHMSA-06-24764.)

This notice informs the public that the Department of Homeland Security has developed and published a Notice of Change to the National Response Plan. It is now available to the public at www.dhs.gov/nationalresponseplan.
